Treat every hole shape as a tooling requirement

Round holes and slotted holes may serve different assembly needs, but the choice should follow the approved component design. For a clamp punching machine enquiry, send the exact hole shape rather than a general request for “bolt holes.” Haihui can discuss the requested feature against the material and machine configuration.

Dimension the full slot geometry

For a slot, identify the overall length, width, end shape and orientation along the strip. Show center positions and edge distances. For round holes, provide the required diameter and location. If a part contains more than one hole shape, label the features so the tooling discussion does not confuse the dimensions of one with another.

Confirm the tool package and changes

Ask which punch and die sets are included in the quotation and which require separate supply. Discuss the procedure and setup checks needed when changing tools, following the instructions for the supplied equipment. A catalog of possible shapes does not prove that all tooling is installed or included in one machine offer.

Approve against the drawing
